House Rewiring in Coachella, CA

Coachella’s housing stock has its own set of rewiring characteristics that affect how we scope and execute the work:

• Mixed site-built and manufactured housing: Coachella has a significant share of manufactured and mobile homes alongside conventional site-built construction, and they follow different code requirements (NEC Article 550) for feeder connections, interior wiring methods, and inspection. We scope these separately from site-built work because the job is genuinely different — not just a label change.
• Informal additions and unpermitted work: Many older Coachella homes have had sheds, covered patios, garage conversions, and extra rooms added over the decades without permits or inspections. This wiring is often undersized, improperly connected, and the first place problems show up. We identify and address it as part of the rewiring scope.
• Older original wiring still in service: Site-built homes from the 1970s and 1980s in Coachella’s established neighborhoods may still carry original aluminum branch circuit wiring or conductors with deteriorated insulation — often untouched because the home hasn’t been through a full renovation since it was built.
• Service pedestal and feeder connections for manufactured homes: Manufactured homes on permanent lots often have aging service pedestal connections that are separate from the interior wiring problem. We assess both together rather than rewiring the interior and leaving a deteriorated pedestal connection in place.
• IID territory permitting and coordination: Coachella is served by Imperial Irrigation District, and any work involving the service entrance or meter requires IID coordination alongside the city permit — a different process than neighboring SCE cities. We handle both.
